Berkhamsted – Large kitchen and rear extension
This property benefited from a very large rear garden, so it made perfect sense to utilise some of this outdoor space indoors by creating a large modern kitchen/dining/family room with sliding doors to the garden.
We set up a temporary kitchen in the family's old study room, as they had 2 very young children, and boarded up the rear of the house securely, allowing the family to be able to stay safely in the house whilst the exterior works carried on.
We extended out into the garden, along with adding UFH, large sliding doors, and creating a great family kitchen with centre island and bar stool seating, a dining area with built in TV and sound system, and a cosy area for sofa and chairs too. Plus a generous utility room, with built-in boiler cupboard.
Once we were ready to knock through, the effects spoke for themselves, as the contemporary space created was impressive, and certainly added value to the property. The family found it hard to imagine how they had managed beforehand!

Anthony, Ian, Julie and the rest of the Frithsden team were extremely friendly and considerate, both to our family and neighbours, and kept the work site completely separate from our living area and in a very clean and ordered state. The added benefit of the in-house interior design advice from Julie was very welcomed and helpful in ensuring that the design and finish of the work met our aspirations along with finishing touches which we would not have considered ourselves.
We are very pleased with the finished project and would have no hesitation in using Frithsden again or recommending them to others.
